Salon Cervantes theathre , 19th century

(Madrid)

The facade of the Teatro Salón Cervantes is in the modernist style, with very simple brickwork. It was inaugurated in the spring of 1888. After the Civil War, the theatre was converted into a cinema. The building was a dance hall in 1973, was sold and became a bingo hall in 1979, until the Town Hall bought it in 1986. Three years later, in 1989, the Province of Madrid completely refurbished it so that it would once again be the nineteenth-century theatre it had been, with its stalls, boxes and stage.
