Study on the Economic, Social and Territorial Impact of Audiovisual Production in Spain

The Study on the Economic, Social and Territorial Impact of Audiovisual Production in Spain analyses the scale and contribution of audiovisual activity to the Spanish economy, based on indicators including expenditure, employment, Gross Value Added (GVA), labour income and territorial impact.

Led by Spain Film Commission and prepared by Olsberg·SPI, with the participation of the Spain Film Commission Chair for the Filming Industry at Pablo de Olavide University, the study builds on the scope of the 2024 edition and provides a more comprehensive overview of audiovisual production in Spain, both domestic and international, over the 2023–2025 period.

The initiative is funded by the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, part of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service of the Government of Spain, within the framework of the Spain Audiovisual Hub, funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU as part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The research provides a basis for measuring the contribution of the audiovisual industry to the economy, employment and territories, as well as its capacity to generate economic activity and new opportunities across different regions of Spain.

The first results were presented in September 2026 as part of the San Sebastián International Film Festival.

ZOOM OUT. One industry. Real impact.

Direct spending on film and television production in Spain grows by nearly 29% between 2022 and 2025, after adjusting for inflation: from €4.42 billion to €5.68 billion, at constant 2025 prices.
