Salinas de Imón

At about 14 km from the beautiful Sigüenza we find Imon and the most important salt mines of the Atienza region and the province. The Salinas de Imón are the largest, best construction and, in addition, those that have reached our days in better condition. The latest modernization, to which it owes its current appearance, is the work of Carlos III in 1720. They were active until 1996.   The set consists of three large warehouses, two of which are still standing, San Antonio and San José; five waterwheels, four of them are kept in acceptable condition, distributed throughout the installation; several recocederos and a thousand pools, which keep most of its cobblestones and timber…
