Madrid, March 20, 2026 – Spain Film Commission was recognized yesterday, Thursday, at the 41st edition of the CETT Alimara Barcelona Awards. An accolade that recognizes products, services, strategies, and initiatives that stand out for their innovation in fields such as communication, digitalization, sustainability, and research in the tourism, hospitality, and gastronomy sectors. Specifically, it was awarded in two categories: Through Audiovisual, granted to projects that use audiovisual content as a key element to understand a company, position a brand, or promote a territory, for its promotional video about the Experiences Program. And Through Experiences, which honors marketing and communication projects from organizations that generate an inspiring, emotional, or motivational experience for their audience or users, awarded to the Screen Tourism Experiences Program in Spain.

In the words of Juan Manuel Guimeráns, president of the Spain Film Commission: “When a job is done with time, vision, and passion, it is hard for it not to turn out well; if it is also done in collaboration with experts, such as Thinking Heads, Verne Tourism Experts, and TBS – Tech Brands Stories, a successful outcome is guaranteed. We are thrilled with the launch of the Experiences Program, which seeks to highlight the locations of the main audiovisual productions that have been filmed in Spain. The fact that this work is now recognized for boosting the creation of innovative and sustainable tourism products and experiences in these destinations makes us even happier. Our goal is to achieve social impact, focused on recovering, maintaining, and spreading Spain’s film heritage as an essential part of our culture and memory; and economic impact, focused on boosting creativity, innovation, digitalization, sustainability, and circularity in the development of destinations that have hosted shoots.”

The CETT Alimara Barcelona Awards, organized by CETT, Barcelona School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy, together with B-Travel and in collaboration with UN Tourism and the Department of Language Policy of the Generalitat of Catalonia, have established themselves as a benchmark meeting point for the sector, bringing together companies, institutions, and professionals.

Dr. Maria Abellanet i Meya, president of CETT, highlighted during the event that “tourism is an extraordinarily powerful activity: it connects people, territories, and cultures, and it can become a force for development and well-being when it is grounded in knowledge and responsibility”.

The evening was also attended by Mr. Miquel Sàmper Rodríguez, Minister of Business and Labour of the Generalitat of Catalonia, who was in charge of closing the event and highlighted the importance of sustainable tourism that cares for, preserves, and values gastronomy, language, and the territory.

The Program and its Promotional Video

The screen tourism project of the Spain Film Commission’s Experiences Program that has been awarded is an initiative funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism – Secretariat of State for Tourism (SETUR), with the aim of transforming Spanish audiovisual heritage into sustainable tourism experiences. Framed within the strategic program of the association Spain Screen Grand Tour, this project seeks to generate an economic and cultural impact in the territory, connecting visitors with the real-life settings of iconic audiovisual productions. The proposal is structured through pilot experiences in Formentera, Seville, Galicia, and Burgos, which serve as a model to develop a unique and pioneering methodology that will help create innovative and replicable tourism products in other destinations.

As complementary material to the project, a promotional video was created. In collaboration with TBS (Tech Brands Stories, the creative production company of the Telefónica group), this video creatively captures a visual and detailed breakdown of the process to create a sustainable screen tourism experience. The workshop held in Covarrubias, Burgos, was used to exemplify the application of the methodology, aiming to provide an attractive example for destinations interested in adapting it to their territories. Additionally, a website was created for the project where the methodology designed by the Spain Film Commission can be found, allowing any tourism agent from any territory in Spain to design and launch their own screen tourism initiatives, along with all the necessary materials to implement said methodology.

The development of screen tourism experiences is a meticulous process that involves different phases and the participation of agents from both the audiovisual and tourism sectors, all of which are reflected in the presented and award-winning video.
