The Convair Coronado jetliner that we offer as a film set belonged to the Spanish charter company Spantax, pioneer of tourist flights to Mallorca which was set up in 1959 and went bankrupt in 1988. This airliner, registered EC-BZO was built in 1962 and was abandoned at the Air Base of Palma (belonging to the Spanish Air Force) in 1988, becoming public ownership since it was not sold by the liquidation commission of the company. It measures 42 meters in length and weighs about 50 tons. There are only other three Coronado jetliners Worldwide (one in Luzern, Switzerland and two in Mojave, California) A group of fans of the Association Amics de Son Sant Joan have been working since 2009 to recover the plane and to be exhibited in a Museum. In 2011 we managed to get the Consell de Mallorca, through its General Directorate of Heritage, to declare it Well Cataloged, the only airplane in Spain that is protected by Law.
