In ancient times this square was called Puerta del Campo (Gate of the Coutryside) because it was the south limit of the city until the VIII century, when it began to be defined Paseo Zorrilla, which now is the longest street of the city. During the Middle Age militar exhibitions had been carried out here. It has always been a place of break. In the square can be admired the school of military order, which is one of the most amazing buildings of the city.
