Big Square is the heart of old Mataró. The current plan of the square corresponds to the extension made in 1773 of the small medieval square. Many houses in the square still have a Baroque image, such as Can Bosch or Casa de la Fuente (17th century). The Mercado el Tren, el Tranvía or el Rengle, is a construction with a longitudinal rectangular plan, made by the architects Emilio Cabañas and Josep Puig i Cadafalch in 1892. It consists of a central corridor and a row of stalls on each side; on the outside there are also stops. The set stands out especially for its back, which also serves as ventilation. The use of tiles arranged in colored stripes give it a showy look.
