Somiedo natural park

(Asturias)

The Natural Park of Somiedo (Somiedo, Asturias) is one of the last redoubts where nature is pure. Its landscapes, fauna and flora, gastronomy, and its people make this corner a privileged place. Its high peaks, lakes and forests are a refuge for a multitude of animal species such as grouse, deer, wolves and bears. The Somiedo Natural Park covers 29,122 hectares and is one of the most important and best preserved protected areas in Asturias. It was the first Asturian space declared Natural Park in 1988. And later in the year 2000 as a Biosphere Reserve.
