It was built according to a design by Virgilio Rabaglio in 1752, and Pedro Sexmini was commissioned to decorate the exterior, giving this monument clear Italian connotations. This palace is austere and sober, far removed from the Baroque style. However, inside we find one of the most important examples of Baroque architecture in Spain, its main staircase, which consists of two staircases starting from a vestibule in opposite directions, offering a beautiful spectacle. Its artistic decoration is overwhelming: paintings by the great masters, such as Velázquez, Rubens, Giusseppe Bonito, Toribio Alvarez; 18th-century tapestries from the Royal Factory of Santa Bárbara; sculptures, furniture and antique weapons of incalculable historical value.
