The Cistercian Monastery of Armenteira (Pontevedra, Galicia), inhabited by a community of nuns of the same order, is of Renaissance and Baroque style, and goes back to the 16th and 17th centuries. It also conserves the magnificent romanesque church, erected by its first Cistercian abbot in the year 1167. It stands on a Latin-cross plan, with three aisles and three apses. The doorway is probably the most noteworthy part of the building, with its six archivolts supported by six pairs of columns, and a splendid rose window above.
