The Natural Park of Black Lake and Glacial Cirques of Urbion has an extension of 4.617 hectares; it possesses a great singularity: the ice with its great erosive power has carved the glacier landscape with capricious forms. The forest ecosystems, lakes, creeks and high mountain pastures give place to exuberant landscapes, typical of the high Mediterranean Iberian mountains. Here one finds the largest forest extension of pinegroves of the Iberian Peninsula. In it there are some of the highest peaks of the province of Soria (Castile and Leon), such as Urbión’s Peak, with 2.228 m. of altitude, near which the Douro River is born.
