(Sevilla)

Roman cemetery which was in use around the 1st and 2nd centuries. The most common ritual burial was incineration within family tombs excavated in the rock, with niches and benches where the urns and offerings were placed. Highlights include the Tomb of Servilia (an exceptional burial consisting of a wide arcaded courtyard from which you could access the different chambers of two different heights that it originally had) and the Tomb of the Elephant (dedicated to the Phrygian Gods Attis and Cybele, the gods of the sun and fertility, respectively). Located in Carmona (Seville, Andalusia), in the archaeological museum there is an exhibition with the site’s pieces, mainly those from the Necropolis and related funerary cults.
