Hostalric castle is a military fortress build on uneven terrain. The grounds follow a system of bastions, and therefore boast the typical defence elements of the period such as the interior quarters (guardhouse, gunpowder magazine), moat, exterior works (saw tooth, ravelin, gates) and covered path (bomb proof gallery).
