Barrio Gótico de Barcelona

(Barcelona)

The Gothic Quarter is the oldest part of the city of Barcelona (Catalonia) and its historical center. The Roman decumanus and cardus are the axes of this complex historical neighborhood in its highest part, the old Monte Taber (St. James Square). The most important sites are the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia, the Church of Santa Maria del Mar, the Plaza Real and the Plaza San Jaume. Many of the buildings in the neighborhood are not originally Gothic, but restorations or even new Neo-Gothic projects built ??in the 19th and 20th centuries.
