Spain Film Commission and IFEMA organise the 8th edition of FITUR Screen

  • The official opening, to be held on Wednesday 21st at 12 noon, will mark the start of the Spain-India Dual Year of Culture, Tourism and Artificial Intelligence
  • The Experiences Programme, a project developed by the organisation and funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism – State Secretariat for Tourism (SETUR), will be the other major feature of this edition
  • Spain Film Commission will present for the first time the award for Best Screen Tourism Experience and the SFC Global Visionaries Awards, two new awards that join the Best Production and Ambassador Awards.

Madrid, 16 January 2026 – Spain Film Commission returns to FITUR with the 8th edition of FITUR Screen, organised alongside IFEMA, which will take place from 21 to 23 January 2026 in Hall 10 of IFEMA Madrid. For three days, this space will bring together national and international professionals from the tourism and audiovisual industries, as well as film commissions and film offices, consolidating its position as a key meeting point for analysing trends, exploring business opportunities and strengthening collaboration between destinations and the audiovisual sector.

In this edition, FITUR Screen will feature a programme of presentations and professional activities centred on the start of the Spain-India Dual Year of Culture, Tourism and Artificial Intelligence, a platform to promote collaboration with the Indian audiovisual industry, one of the largest markets in the world, through academic and professional collaboration. Among the institutional representatives who will take part in the event are the Indian Ambassador to Spain, Jayant N. Khobragade, and Rishabh Chopra, honorary ambassador of the association and head of production at Yash Raj Films, responsible for Indian productions that have used Spanish locations. This milestone will also be attended by institutional representatives from the Spanish government, specifically from the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, and the Ministry of Culture. At this event, the Spain Film Commission will present a special award, the SFC Global Visionaires Awards, to Yash Raj Films and Atrece Creaciones for their contribution to international collaboration between Spain and India in the audiovisual field.

The other major feature of this edition will be the Experiences Programme, a strategic initiative of the Spain Film Commission, funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism – State Secretariat for Tourism (SETUR), which aims to promote innovative and sustainable tourism products based on audiovisual locations. In addition, the exhibition area will be specially dedicated to showcasing the diversity and potential of these experiences, highlighting their ability to generate value in the territories and enrich Spain’s tourism offering.

Furthermore, as a result of ongoing efforts to build relationships and collaborate with various audiovisual markets around the world, the organisation will consolidate an agenda with the special participation of Brazil, Morelia (Mexico) and Madhya Pradesh (India), which make up key sectors of the industry in Latin America and India.

First Prize for Best Screen Tourism Experience

For the first time, FITUR Screen will include the award for Best Screen Tourism Experience, which will recognise exemplary initiatives that integrate creativity, sustainability and innovation in the creation of screen tourism experiences.

Along with this new award, the usual Spain Film Commission awards will also be presented: Best Productionwhich highlights shootings with special impact on the promotion of Spain as an audiovisual destination; and Spain Film Commission Ambassador, which recognizes personalities whose work contributes significantly to the international projection of the Spanish industry.

These awards highlight the strategic role of the film industry as a driver of cultural, economic and tourism development, reinforcing the Spain Film Commission’s leadership in promoting screen tourism.

All these efforts are aimed at positioning Spain as a global benchmark in the audiovisual sector. The agenda will feature the prominent participation of the association’s regional and local partners: Andalucía Film Commission, Burgos Film Commission, Extremadura Film Commission, Illes Balears Film Commission, Madrid Film Office, Film Madrid Region with the participation of Alcalá Film Office, the film commissions and film offices of the Valencian Community through Valencia Region Film, Rías Baixas Film Commission, Valladolid Film Commission, Vigo Film Office and Vitoria-Gasteiz / Araba Film Commission, reflecting the diversity and strength of the network throughout the country.

Thus, Spain Film Commission, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has consolidated its position for the eighth consecutive year as the backbone of the national territory and its international projection, reinforcing Spain’s position as a competitive, highly professionalised and innovative audiovisual hub.
