Very close to the town of Ledesma, 35 kilometers from Salamanca, we find a very pleasant hiking route called the Mocho Bridge route. It is a dirt path that runs through a landscape of large holm oaks that reaches the small valley where the bridge that gives the route its name. The route of this route corresponds to the old Roman route Bletisama Ocelo-Duri, which linked Coria with Zamora. Because of its Roman heritage, both the Mocho Bridge and the remains of the causeway are declared of Cultural Interest. The date of the bridge’s date is not known, and although some think that its construction corresponds to the Roman era -of which there is evidence that the route passed through here- others think that it was built in the Middle Ages, when the of this route became greater. What is clear is that he has lived through different rehabilitations throughout the centuries.
