Plaza Chica de Zafra

(Badajoz)

The Plaza Chica de Zafra is the smallest and oldest of the two arcaded squares of Zafra: the Grande Plaza and Plaza Chica, communicated both through Arquillo del Pan. Besides this arquillo located in its southeast corner, you can access the square two blocks located in the northeast and northwest corners. The square is arcaded on their faces north, east and south but not its west face, face occupied by the current courthouse, former City of Zafra and before segundones noble residence of the House Fair. Quintessential historic Plaza de Zafra, throughout his long life has had many names as Isabel II Square, Liberty Square … but today is known by the popular name that always gave Zafra, the Plaza Chica.
