Located north of Cáceres, between Hurdes and Valle del Jerte and bordering Puerto de Béjar (Salamanca), you will find the Valle del Ambroz. Its landscape, a ridge lined with oaks, chestnut and pine forests, is changing from Plasencia to Baños de Montemayor or Hervás, from the meadows to the mountains. This area is ideal for fishing and water sports enthusiasts. Similarly, if you consider yourself an experienced mountaineer, winter fail to climb the snowy slopes of its mountains. The birdwatchers, come to the Valle del Ambroz to watch various types of birds: forest, mountain shrub, of pasture, crops and water. In this region you will also find some emblematic trees. Be sure to see the birch in the Puerto of Honduras, huge chestnut in Casas del Monte and Segura de Toro and La Fresneda oak in Aldeanueva del Camino. As for his monumental wealth, include the Jewish Quarter of Hervas, and Sotofermoso Palace, located in Abbey, both declared historical-artistic, Baños de Montemayor conjunction with its spa, and Aldeanueva del Camino. These last two localities are in the Via de la Plata.
