With a very elongated disposition and largely surrounded by walls, its 23 temples in the municipality and 14 churches in the historical town centre have made Zamora (Castile and Leon) the city with the most and best Romanesque churches in Europe. Due to all this it has been named “The Romanesque City”. The Cathedral, dating back to the twelve century, is the most representative among Zamora’s monuments.
