The gardens are one of the best examples of 18th century gardens, made by the French architect René Carlier. The gardens are organized in flowerbeds and small groves delimited by hornbeam and trees, especially limes and horse chestnuts. In the 19th century new species were introduced, in particular conifers as the monumental sequoias, planted in front of the Collegiate Church, in the gardens of Medio Punto. White marble statues and vases of the 18th century decorate the flowerbeds and avenues in La Granja de San Ildefonso (Segovia, Castile y León), and lead sculptures, imitating bronze, decorate the fountains.
