With an area of more than 210,000 hectares, the Cazorla Natural Park (Jaén, Andalusia) is the largest protected natural area of Spain and one of the largest in Europe. It has a complex orographic core, rugged mountains, and is crossed by rivers with strong flows that form numerous waterfalls, with backwater lagoons sheltered by lush forests. It is oriented from southwest to northeast and it is divided by the Guadalquivir River , wich has its source here. Declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO for its scenic beauty and biological richness, which, together with the cultural heritage of the area, makes this area one of the most visited in Spain.
