The importance of the Council of Trento Square (Salamanca, Castile and Leon) is due to the convent of San Esteban. Within this imposing monument we find traces of different styles, ranging from the 15th to the 18th centuries. Its huge triumphal arch is also noteworthy. The atrium is located to the right of the facade, and above it we find the library. The beautiful cloister leads to the chancel, where we find outstanding paintings and murals. The church is a Gothic building made of a single nave; its main altarpiece is an outstanding work of art by Joseph Churriguera. The cloister area holds exceptional places such as the Salon de Profundidades, where Christopher Columbus defended his initiative for travelling West to reach the Indies.
